| Navigation Cards are issued each April for all courses that year |
| |
Navigation cards for all 2004-2005 navigation courses have been sent out. When you get your navigation card, hold on to it, it is valuable and difficult to replace. Many courses and some leadership applications require you to submit proof of currency in navigation. When requested, you should make a photocopy of your navigation card, and submit the photocopy of the card as proof of successful completion of the basic navigation course (note the expiry date on the card). You will be issued a card after successful completion of the course, or upon teaching one workshop and one field trip in the same year. |
| Navigation Card replacement |
| From time-to-time, students or instructors lose their navigation cards. These will be replaced upon request, though the actual card may not be printed for one or more months (we are sensitive to the graduation deadlines of various courses). There is a fee for re-issuance of navigation cards of $10.00. You will need to make a check out to "The Mountaineers" for that amount, and send it to the Navigation Chair (at present, Lynn Graf). Think of it as both an incentive not to lose your card, and a donation to navigation program at the Mountaineers if you do. To request a replacement card, send an email to the address below. Be sure to include your full name and address, as well as a telephone number where you can be reached. You will get confirmation by return email within a few days, as well as an address to which you can mail your check. Your card will arrive in time for the graduation request or leadership application, but it make take more than a month -- we try to batch them, and thereby avoid dealing with multiple closely spaced requests in a short timespan (i.e we only do one replacement run close to the graduation deadlines for each of the major courses: the Basic Climbing, Snowshoe or Alpine Scrambling courses).
